John Heath Tributes

It is with great sadness, I must inform you that John died suddenly on Thursday 20th January 2011 from a massive stroke.

John will be missed in many ways but we are so lucky to have had his tremendous commitment and dedication to work for the benefit of the village hall. It is because John and I worked closely together on the parish hall management committee that Rossi Heath has asked me to pass this awful news to you.

John was committed to supporting the village hall. Indeed, the new hall would not have been built without his and Chris Esplin-Jones' determination. Personally, I will miss John's friendship but also his invaluable support as Treasurer. He was always on hand to advise or help and gave much of his time to ensure the custody of the village hall and its value to the village. .

John was 57 years of age and, since retiring from the police service, has enjoyed his home life and travelling with Rossi in their motor home around Europe. As Rossi said this morning, she and John were ‘joined by the hip’ and those of you who know them both will appreciate how devoted they were to each other.

I am sure you will wish to join with me to offer sympathy and support to Rossi at this most sad and difficult time.

Keith Field
Chairman
Hursley Parish Hall Management Committee

John Heath

See the tributes to John or leave your own below. Thank you for your thoughts and reflections, in due course, we will put them all together and give them to Rossi.

I would like to take this opportunity of thanking the residents of Hursley for their unstinting kindness towards my sister, Rosalind, after the sudden death of her husband John Heath.

The act of cooking meals and bringing them to the house enabled Rossi and my wife to try and concentrate on sorting things out.  The cards, with their words, brought great solace to Rossi and were very much appreciated, as were the flowers.

I thought the community where we live in Somerset was special, but it is not a patch on the good-will, time and kindness that was shown by everybody to Rossi.  I would especially like to say thank you to everybody who contributed and helped with teas, cakes and sandwiches after the funeral. It was a great weight lifted.

Our thanks to everyone again.
