The Parish Hall Refurbishment News
The Parish Hall fundraising and building plans are proceeding well. Here we tell you where we are on timings and show the plans. There are a couple of events coming up but we do need to do some serious village fundraising to get everyone together, bring some money in and have some fun!
Nearly there...
Now the Hall is watertight, most contractor activity
is focused inside. The new kitchen is being ftted,
lighting & electrics completed & interiors painted.
As we get ready to open the Hall, we’ve
got some great events coming up.Karen Godfrey (topgodfreys@btinternet.co.uk)

Fundraising is still going on – we still need £40,000.
Our Buy-a-Brick scheme raised £760 before Christmas.
Louise Pratt raised £200 at her Clothes Swap Party,
Rosie Brooks £75 with her Teddy Raffe & there was
£1518 from the Hursley 10K Run. We also had a very
generous personal donation from a parishioner of
£1000. So thanks to everyone who helped raise funds.
One of the frst Village events at the Hall will be a
Friends of Hursley School Curry & Quiz Night on 6
March. On 25 April there is a day celebrating the Life
of John Keble with a Tour, a Talk at the Hall & a
Concert by the Keble College Choir, Oxford.
Our big fundraising event of the Spring will be The
Hursley Hop on Saturday 16 May. This is a village party
with a twist… Travel back to a time when the Hall
was the centre of village entertainment and join us for
some 1940’s style fun! Enjoy a ‘war-time supper' in the
village & then back to the Hall for live music, dancing
& a Bar. Tickets £25 from the Post Offce. Leading up
to the Hop we’ve got Dance Lessons with professional
dance teacher, Ian Millar (see overleaf) & for those
wanting to dress in 1940’s style we’re hoping to
organise a 40’s Style Talk about how to get the look.
If you’d like to help out with any of the events or any
future fundraising, please contact Karen Godfrey on
